Situation:

A trough of low pressure affects northern parts of the North Island today and tomorrow, while a ridge of high pressure builds over the rest of New Zealand. On Tuesday, the trough still lies in the north while high pressure maintains across the rest of Aotearoa New Zealand. During Wednesday, high pressure lies over the North Island, while a northerly flow develops over the South Island. On Thursday, a frontal rainband moves north over the South Island, and is expected to reach the lower North Island late in the day.
