Today, A trough of low pressure affecting the northern parts of the North Island moves away, while a second trough approaches the east coast of the North Island. Otherwise New Zealand is dominated by a ridge. Tomorrow, northerly flow develops over the South Island ahead of a series of fronts On Thursday, frontal rain-bands move north over southern and central New Zealand, followed by showery westerlies. On Friday, the frontal rain-bands clear the upper North Island and showery southwesterlies cover the country. On Saturday showers ease over the South Island as a ridge of high pressure moves on from the Tasman Sea.
